Transforming an Attic into a SuperAttic in Brick, NJ

In Brick, NJ, a homeowner struggled with rooms that were too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, leading to discomfort and higher energy bills. They also needed better insulation to protect their attic storage from temperature fluctuations. We solved these problems by installing SilverGlo insulation boards on the underside of the roof deck. Previously, outside air entered through the soffits, circulated in the attic, and seeped back into the home, making it difficult to maintain comfort and use the attic for storage. The SilverGlo installation effectively insulated the attic and redirected airflow, ensuring it vents outward rather than into the home. With the SuperAttic system in place, the home is now energy-efficient, comfortable year-round, and features a well-insulated attic perfect for storage.

Solving Cold Drafts and High Energy Bills in Brick, NJ

This homeowner in Brick, NJ, struggled with discomfort due to cold drafts, stuffy rooms, and soaring energy bills, prompting them to seek our assistance. During our free home inspection, we discovered that their attic was inadequately insulated with deteriorating fiberglass insulation, which contributed to their issues. Upon pulling back the insulation, we identified improper air sealing and blocked soffit vents exacerbated by the fiberglass. To fix this, we air-sealed the floors, sealed leaky ducts, properly installed baffle vents, and applied TruSoft cellulose insulation to achieve an optimal R-60 value. These improvements significantly enhanced both comfort and energy efficiency in their home.

Insulating and Sealing a Leaky Attic House Fan in Wall, NJ

A homeowner in Wall Township, NJ had an uninsulated and leaky whole-house fan in their attic. Uninsulated and leaky fans allow conditioned air to escape into the attic or unconditioned spaces, leading to comfort issues, increased energy waste and higher energy bills. To address this issue, we installed our David Lewis Whole House Fan Cover on top of the fan. By pumpkin cutting the top and installing hinges, we created a functional door with a string for easy opening. This allows the homeowner to control airflow, opening the fan hatch to let air in when needed. When closed, the fan door seals the cover, providing insulation and preventing leaks. Now, this homeowner enjoys a properly insulated and sealed house fan, reducing attic leaks, improving home comfort, and saving energy.

Kneewall Insulation in Tinton Falls, NJ

This customer couldn't take it anymore! His bedroom and bathroom each bordered one side of the stairwell and they both were freezing in the winter and steaming hot in the summer along with the stairwell itself. He did the best he could purchasing pink, flimsy foam board to lay on the kneewalls in the attic. Even after his own band-aid solution, he was too uncomfortable in his own home. However, he caught a break when he stumbled upon Dr. Energy Saver! We were able to provide a simple, yet effective solution for our friend in Tinton Falls. We air sealed any gaps then insulated the kneewalls with reflective barrier foam board, resulting in a more comfortable bedroom and bathroom for the customer.

Crawl Space insulation and Encapsulation in Tinton Falls, NJ

A homeowner in Tinton Falls, NJ contacted us because their house had comfort issues. The owner expressed that winter was fast approaching. Our customer wanted relief from the cold drafty rooms and the cold floors.

To resolve the homeowner’s comfort issues we needed to create a thermal barrier in the crawl space. By spray foaming the rim joists we have eliminated unwanted air from leaking into the crawl space. Next we installed our SilverGlo rigid insulation panels along the exterior foundational walls. Notice in the after picture on the left side, the concrete wall is exposed because this is an interior wall. We then install our CleanSpace Encapsulation system to the ground and fasten the liner to the edge of the walls. After we use our orange ZypFoam sealant to seal the seams of the SilverGlo insulation panels we spray foamed any exposed exterior walls and seams of the liner.

The homeowner now enjoys a crawl space that now has a thermal barrier from the outside air and creates a much more comfortable and energy efficient home.
