Vented Crawl Space
The vented crawl space is allowing cold air and moisture to enter the home. This leads to chilly floors in colder months and, during warmer seasons, excess humidity that can promote mold growth. To address this, we will seal the vent to help protect the crawl space.

Poorly Insulated Crawl Space
We're examining exposed crawl space walls lacking insulation, along with exposed rim joists that allow cold air to seep in, leading to chilly floors.

Leaky Crawl Space Walls
The thermal image reveals that the crawl space's foundation walls are porous, allowing outside air to seep into the home, while gaps in the rim joists let in cold drafts. Sealing the rim joists and insulating the foundation walls will help keep out unwanted air and moisture.

Cold, Porous Cinder Block Walls
The thermal image reveals that the crawl space's foundation walls are porous, allowing outside air to seep into the home, while gaps in the rim joists and a wall vent let in large amounts of cold air. Sealing the rim joists and vent, along with insulating the foundation walls, will help keep out unwanted air and moisture.

Freezing and Bitter Cold Crawl Space
Temperatures in the crawl space are dropping below freezing, reaching as low as 27-31 degrees. No wonder this homeowner is dealing with cold floors and drafts.

The Stack Effect and Poor Insulation Causing Drafts and Cold Floors
Cold drafts behind the couch or loveseat are making the room uncomfortable, originating from the exterior wall. As you sit, the stack effect pulls this cold air upward into the attic due to poor air sealing. Meanwhile, inadequate crawl space insulation allows cold air to leak in from below, rising through the home and causing drafts and chilly floors.

Cold Floors
During our crawl space inspection, we found exposed rim joists, allowing cold air to seep in, causing drafts and chilly floors. If the attic isn't properly air-sealed, the stack effect can pull this cold air up through the walls and into the attic, further impacting home comfort.

Cold Bathroom Floor
Thermal imaging helps us identify cold floors and pinpoint air leaks. In extreme cold, these leaks can lead to frozen pipes, especially near exterior walls and bathrooms.
