Insulation Services Photo Album: Crawlspace Insulation in Beachwood, NJ
After finally rebuilding their home after Hurricane Sandy in Beachwood, NJ, these homeowners wanted a solution to keep ground water away from their new home. They called Dr. Energy Saver to see what kind of solutions we could offer them to their issue. Like most, they were surprised with what we could actually do with a dirty and moist crawlspace to make it pristine and dry. The homeowners asked us to fully encapsulate the crawlspace with our patented CleanSpace liner, as well as 2" reflective polyisocyanurate board on the walls, all sealed by expanding closed cell spray foam. This will ensure that any excess ground water or moisture will not be resting under the house and exposed to the homes framing. Aside from keeping the home safe, the indoor air quality and efficiency of the home will improve because over 50% of the air you breathe in your house comes from below. This means that when you have a wet crawlspace, the moisture can make its way up into your home and cause humidity and odor problems. Under the CleanSpace liner we installed a dimple drainage mat, which provides a thermal break between the liner and the floor, and also will allow water to pass freely under the sealed liner. Additionally, an access to the crawlspace under the house was sealed with spray foam and foam board to ensure no air can pass through into and out of the crawlspace.
