These customers in Ocean Township, NJ had insufficiant insulation that just wasn't keeping their house comfortable in any season!  They called Dr. Energy for a solution to their problem, because like many homeowner's they felt they have a right to be comfortable and able to enjoy their own home.  The diagnosis was simple, it was clear that their old fiberglass insulation had just gotten too dirty and decrepid to perform at any level close to the way it should be.  Replacing this dirty, old fiberglass, with new and much healthier cellulose, along with air sealing any cavities or gaps in the attic with spray foam, will give this home a much needed boost in comfortability and energy efficiency.  In addition to the cracks and gaps, each of the homes recess light cans will be covered and seperated from the insulation for safety, and to ensure they are not leaking air into the home.  The attic also had an exposed kneewall, a wall shared between the bedroom and the attic, which was not properly insulated.  It was insulated with 2" polyisocyanurate foam board and sealed to stop air from leaking through the wall.  Additionally, adding foam to the hatch cover will not allow any air to pass through the attic hatch and into the home.
