These customers second floor felt like a steam room because of the attic space that borders the rooms on the second floor. Dr. Energy Saver knew just how to help these customers by air sealing and insulating the walls bordering the attics, as well as the floor of the attics to insulate the top of the first floor. By covering the existing fiberglass insulation on the wall with 2" reflective radiant barrier foam board, we maximized the efficiency of the insulation and added an air sealed barrier separating the conditioned space from attic space. Under the storage deck in the attics, we densely packed cellulose to insulate the first floor below. On the attic flats covering the first floor, we sprayed cellulose insulation to its maximum recommended height, contained by retaining dams standing around the storage decks. In the basement, to stop outside air from coming in Dr. Energy spray foamed the rim joist to create an air seal. Walking through the house after the projects completion the customers could notice the difference, now their second floor didn't feel like a sauna.
