Insulation Services Photo Album: Attic Insulation in Belmar, NJ
This customer in Belmar lives in a one story home that gets too uncomfortable in the hot and cold seasons. Upon inspection our Dr. Energy Saver home energy auditor noticed that the attic was barely insulated. It had a lot of spots with no insulation at all, and the areas that did had extremely thin fiberglass that looked to be at least 30 years old and covered in dust. Our solution for this customer involved removing the old dirty insulation, then air sealing all gaps in the attic, then spraying 18" of cellulose in the attic flats to increase the insulation R-value(resistance to heat flow) to 60. We created a catwalk for access to the mechanical area in the attic, under it we dense packed cellulose under a piece of foam board to maximize insulation under the walkway. This all resulted in a much more comfortable home for the customers which can stand up to the hottest and coldest temperatures.
Old Attic Insulation
The old, thin, and ineffective fiberglass insulation layered with dust.
Insulation Void
There were many spots that had no insulation at all, leaving only sheet rock between the customers and the attic air.
Attic Flats Prepped
Attic flats prepped for cellulose to be blown, rulers used for thickness and quality control.
Attic Flats Sprayed
A full 18" of cellulose covers the attic flats ensuring air flow will be stopped between the attic and conditioned space.
Cat Walk Retaining Walls

Cat Walk
The retaining walls hold back the cellulose creating a clear walking path. (Photo taken before sweeping)
