Insulation Services Photo Album: Attic Insulation in Freehold, NJ Ranch-style Home
This customer reached out because he felt his Levitt built, Ranch-style home on a concrete slab in Freehold, NJ was not maintaining one comfortable temperature throughout the house. He told us that his second floor bedrooms were freezing in the winter, and unbearably hot during the summer, requiring supplemental window A/C units (only a band-aid solution). This problem stemmed from a poorly insulated attic space, ducts, and a skylight in the home.
We recommended that this particular customer should cover all of the ducts, horizontal kneewalls, and the skylight opening with 2" thick high density foam board with a reflective radiant barrier to properly air seal his attic from the inside of his home. This foam board keeps your hot and cold air from moving freely throughout walls and is able to reflect additional heat with its reflective finish. Resulting in a single comfortable temperature being maintained throughout the home. We have his attic flats covered with cellulose insulation as well.
This customer was able to feel the difference before we even left the home and shared his thanks!
Before: Vertical Kneewall
Attic kneewall that only has regular fiberglass insulation that is not doing the job
After: Vertical Kneewall
Kneewall is now air sealed with closed cell foam and encapsulated by foam board with a reflective barrier.
Before: Attic Stairs
The attic stairs were allowing outside air to pass through this customers home with poor coverage from the dirty fiberglass insulation.
After: Attic Stairs
Stairwell air sealed with foam then encapsulated by radiant barrier foam board.
Before: Skylight
This homes skylight was allowing outside air to leak through the walls of the skylight
After: Skylight
Insulating the skylight with spray foam and foam board stops the free movement of air through the cavity.
