Repairing a Leaky Attic Entrance with the David Lewis Hatch Cover in Brick, NJ

In Brick, NJ, this homeowner is dealing with significant air leaks around their attic entrance, causing them to lose conditioned air into the attic. This issue results in cold, drafty rooms, stuffy spaces, and higher energy bills.

Solution

After insulating the attic, our crew installed a David Lewis Hatch Cover over the pull-down attic stairs. We began by sealing the entrance frame to eliminate any potential air leaks. Next, we framed around the David Lewis Hatch Cover and added weather stripping to the framing to prevent conditioned air from escaping into the attic. The result is a tighter, more comfortable home with fewer drafts and improved energy efficiency.
