Transforming an Attic into a SuperDeck: Enhanced Comfort and Storage in Red Bank, NJ

This attic in Red Bank, NJ, was poorly insulated, had leaky ducts, and lacked proper storage, causing discomfort and higher energy bills. To address these issues, we created a SuperDeck by installing 4-inch foam boards on the attic floor with wooden decking on top, providing insulation and functional storage. We encapsulated the ductwork with 2-inch foam boards, sealed all gaps to stop air leaks, and added blown-in cellulose insulation to the remaining attic space. Finally, we installed a David Lewis Hatch cover to prevent air leaks at the attic entrance. The result is a well-insulated, functional attic that enhances comfort and reduces energy costs.
