Poorly Insulated Attic
Fiberglass insulation layered with dirt is all that insulates this house from the outside air. The fiberglass doesn't perform at optimal levels when it is packed with dirt, so it has been rendered essentially ineffective by the dirt.
Dirty Insulation
A thick layer of dirt covers the fiberglass, taking away most of it's effectiveness.
Large Cavity
Large cavity that lets out in the attic, but carries outside air all through the house.
Attic Stair
The attic stair cavity is one of the big problems in the attic letting a lot of air enter the home because it is an uninsulated opening.
Sea of Cellulose
Attic flat is completely covered in cellulose, increasing the R-Value(resistance to heat flow) of the insulation to R-60
Attic Flat
Cellulose covers entire attic, ensuring no air is escaping the conditioned space.
Large Cavity Sealed
The large cavity pictured before that is allowing air to move throughout the framing of the house has now been air sealed properly and allows no air to move through it.
New Attic Deck
A new attic deck creates a safe area to walk on instead of balancing on studs.
Custom Stair Hatch
Covering the attic stair cavity with an airtight, insulated hatch will slow down the movement of air through that area dramatically and keep the inside of the house comfortable.
