Attic Ventilation in Sea Girt, NJ
Challenge
This happy customer ran into a few problems when he decided to install his own blown-in fiberglass insulation. The insulation was stuffed to the edge of the roof clogging his soffit vents. This resulted in condensation on the roof deck because the attic wasn't properly venting outside air. A large percentage of roof decay in the U.S. is a result of improperly vented attic space, causing the condensation to rot the wood from the inside of the home. This customer desperately needed to properly ventilate his attic to avoid having to replace his roof in the future.
Solution
Dr. Energy was able to save this customers roof by digging out the insulation that was clogging the soffit vent surrounding the house. Then installed vent baffles to allow fresh air to cycle into the attic keeping the space fresh. The bottom of the baffle was air sealed to the edge of the roof that way air can only move in the way the baffles were designed. This customer was extremely happy he could save his roof and attic space with the help of Dr. Energy Saver's solution.
