Attic Modified David Lewis House Fan in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner’s attic house fan in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ was a major leaking point allowing conditioned air leak all year round. Most attic house fans are obsolete and removed. In cases when the fan cannot be removed we will install a “David Lewis Whole House Fan Cover”. Some rare cases we will modify the cover so the homeowner can continue using the fan, as requested by the owner.
Solution
To eliminate air leaking from in and out of the attic our team of expert’s air sealed the seams of the house fan using our orange ZypFoam sealant. Next we installed the David Lewis Whole House Fan Cover over the attic fan. The David Lewis Fan Cover is made from our 4 inch SilverGlo insulation which has graphite infused into the foam to bump up the insulation value by 24% over standard EPS foam. Once the David Lewis Fan Cover is installed we will then air seal the cover to the floor and seal any remaining seams needed. Finally we modified the top of the Fan Cover so the owner could use the fan like a trap door as seen in the pictures.
This homeowner now has a less drafty, more comfortable and energy efficient home.
