Cape Cod Kneewall and Attic Insulation in Spring Lake, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner’s Cape Cod attic was turned into an exercise room in Spring Lake, NJ. This room was not properly insulated and had hot and cold drafts depending on the season or weather. Our customer needed our help insulating their attic/exercise room and kneewalls.
Solution
Our team gained access to the kneewall entrances and air sealed the kneewall floors with our orange ZypFoam sealant. This helps prevent unwanted air from seeping into the attic’s kneewalls. To help insulate the exercise room we draft blocked the kneewall floors where the walls meet the floors. Our SilverGlo foam insulation boards are fastened onto the kneewall walls and exterior kneewall walls. Next our team drills a hole into the SilverGlo and into the cavity of the sloped ceilings. After drilling a hole we insert a hose and dense packed the cavity of the sloped ceilings exercise room. For dense packing we use our TruSoft cellulose insulation. After plugging the holes and sealing them back up, our team blows-in our TruSoft cellulose insulation on to the kneewall floor.
The adjoining room to the exercise room also needs to be properly insulated. We first air sealed the adjoining room with our orange ZypFoam sealant. Next our team installs our SilverGlo foam insulation boards onto the adjoining walls to help insulate the exercise room. We fasten our SilverGlo insulation boards to any remaining exterior walls of the attic. After we install catwalk dams, we use our orange ZypFoam sealant to seal all the gaps of the SilverGlo and any remaining gaps we may have missed. Finally, we blow-in our TruSoft cellulose insulation while our catwalks dams help contain the insulation from spreading on to the attic floors or decking.
Our customer now enjoys a workout room and attic that is properly insulated. This homeowner also has a more comfortable and energy efficient house.
