Home Energy Audit Photo Album: Total Home Energy Retrofit in Jackson, NJ
In another 'electric-only' community in Ocean County, this customer in Jackson, NJ needed some relief from her outrageous heating and cooling bills. Both her poorly insulated attic and crawlspace were attributing to these problems and left a lot of room for improvement in their previous state. (To say the least) The crew really had to dive in headfirst to this mess of a crawlspace, with all of the debris and insulation hanging down from the ceiling. After the clean out, the crawlspace was encapsulated with our patented CleanSpace crawlspace liner, and 2" reflective foam board on the walls, which was a total transformation from where it had started. With over 50% of the air you breathe inside your house coming from below, you are at risk of breathing in the same air that is currently down in your crawlspace. Offering this solution to your home can not only improve the health and indoor air quality of your overall house, but help you save on your energy bills in a big way!
A similar story in the attic, it wasn't nearly as bad in terms of debris but the dirty, thin fiberglass insulation was barely doing anything! This attic was having a tough time keeping any conditioned air in the home and was the main driver to these high energy bills. After a full 'air seal' and reinsulation of the attic area, the results will be as night and day as the difference between how the attic looked before vs. how it looks now. R-30 worth of cellulose insulation will be blown over the existing R-19 insulation, after the team has completely sealed any cracks gaps and holes between the attic and the home.
Crawlspace Debris
Just some of the debris that was initially in the crawlspace.
More Crawlspace Debris
More debris including disconnected hoses and insulation.
Insulation in Crawl
This insulation was weighed down by moisture over time and started to fall down onto the floor.
Old Attic Insulation
Old and destroyed fiberglass insulation isn't doing much to protect this home.
Attic Before Reinsulation
This is what the whole attic looked like before our crew got up there.
Torn-Up Insulation
Mouse poison sits on top of this decrepit and destroyed fiberglass insulatiopn
Finished Attic
What the attic looks like now after air sealing and adding R-30 worth of cellulose insulation.
Insulation Ruler
Our rulers ensure we hit the right depth of insulation coverage through out the whole attic. Some was moved before this picture to expose the R-49 rating right on the ruler, because that is now the total rating of the whole attic.
New Crawlspace Wall
This solution now protects those porous concrete foundation walls that have not been insulating the crawlspace at all since the house was built.
Complete Crawlspace
A 180 degree difference from before! Our patented CleanSpace liner will leave your crawlspace looking brand new.
Finished Crawlspace
Another angle of this beautifully refreshed crawlspace.
Rim Joist Sealed
Along the whole perimeter of the house the framing bays were insulated to stop air leakage through the homes rim joist.
Finished Crawl Wall
2" reflective SilverGlo polyiso board sheathes the walls, stopping any air from passing through, working in conjunction with the CleanSpace system.
